Water quality monitoring in Taiwan

The problem

The Taipei Water Department TWD has taken up the cause to provide adequate supplies of high quality drinking water for all domestic and industrial clients, and has established an extensive automatic water quality monitoring system to assure the high standards. Via internet customers can view the current readings of their drinking water. For the insular state of Taiwan maintenance requirements are a mayor criterion for the selection of online monitoring equipment, not least for the smaller islands and sea water desalination plants.

The challenge

The high standards of drinking water monitoring must be maintained over long periods of time without any maintenance.

Our solution

The Chlorine concentration is monitored with an open sensor made of glass and gold. It contains no delicate parts and needs no refilling. The metal electrodes are cleaned automatically every day by our patented Automatic Sensor Cleaning, ASR. This electrochemical cleaning procedure requires no chemicals and no cleaning particles – all necessary hardware and software is integrated in the K100 controller. ASR maintains the sensitivity of the sensor at its original height, so that recalibration is unnecessary over long periods of time.
